Robland Home Health Care Services provides Adult Companion Services for 18 year old & older and/or people approved for BI, CAC, CADI, DD and EW waiver plan. Adult Companion Services Definition: Non-medical care, supervision and socialization, provided to a functionally impaired adult. Companions may assist or supervise the individual with such tasks as meal preparation, laundry and shopping, but do not perform these activities as discrete services. The provision of companion services does not consist of nursing care but may consist of hands-on assistance or training to the participant in performing activities of daily living and independent living skills. Providers may also perform light housekeeping tasks which are incidental to the care and supervision of the individual. This service is provided in accordance with a therapeutic goal in the Support Plan and is not diversional in nature
Robland Home Health Care offer full range in-home personal care services including Bathing Assistance, Personal Hygiene and Grooming, Dressing Assistance, Toileting and Incontinence Assistance, Feeding Assistance, and Medication Reminders.
Robland professional care providers are well-trained in adult companion for our clients. Our staff members are also thoroughly screened and highly qualified to render adult companion services.
People with disabilities or older Minnesotans who need certain levels of care may qualify for waiver/AC programs. These programs are available to people who choose to reside in the community and meet the eligibility criteria:
Alternative Care (AC): For older Minnesotans who require the level of care provided in a nursing facility and who are not yet eligible for Medical Assistance.
Brain Injury (BI) Waiver: For people with a traumatic, acquired or degenerative brain injury who require the level of care provided in a nursing facility that provides specialized services for people with BI, or who require the level of care provided in a neurobehavioral hospital.
Community Alternative Care (CAC) Waiver: For people who are chronically ill or medically fragile and require the level of care provided in a hospital.
Community Access for Disability Inclusion (CADI) Waiver: For people with disabilities who require the level of care provided in a nursing facility.
Developmental Disabilities (DD) Waiver: For people with developmental disabilities or related conditions who require the level of care provided in an intermediate care facility for persons with developmental disabilities (ICF/DD).
Elderly Waiver (EW): For older Minnesotans who require the level of care provided in a nursing facility.
Adult companion services cover services that help a person work toward a therapeutic or community integration goal in their support plan.
Examples
The adult companion may:
• Attend a movie with the person to practice coping skills to manage their social anxiety
• Go with the person to a community event to reduce their social isolation
• Play a board game with the person to enhance their fine motor skills
• Provide verbal instructions or cues to the person to help them complete a task
• Assist or supervise the person with tasks such as laundry, light housekeeping, meal preparation and shopping.
